We used to run a server with it and had hopes to bridge it to Discord, but because we can't guarantee our server uptime and because Element is yet another platform for people to pick up. We currently recommend using Discord since many people already use it which makes it easy for people to host all their club relate communications in one place.
Maybe in the future we'll be able to bridge the two and allow people to choose.
